Paper Price Hikes Sweep the Market: What You Need to Know

As fall approaches, three of the industry’s biggest paper suppliers have announced price increases across a wide range of grades and finishes. Here’s a clear look at who’s raising what, and when it takes effect.

ND Paper — Effective October 8, 2025

ND Paper’s Orion division is implementing an increase of up to 4% (approximately USD $2.50 / CAD $3.50).

This applies to all basis weights, finishes, and grade extensions.

Billerud — Effective October 8, 2025

Billerud will increase prices on a number of its coated products by up to 5% on:

  • Anthem Plus

  • Blazer Digital

And up to 4% on its Coated Freesheet Web Grades:

  • ArborWeb Plus

  • Sterling Ultra

  • Sterling Ultra EX

  • Sterling Points EX

  • Sterling Ultra Caliper

  • Arbor Web

  • Influence

  • Influence X

These increases apply to all basis weights, calipers, finishes, and related private-label grades.

Sappi — Effective Immediately

Sappi is implementing increases of up to 4% on:

  • Opus

  • Somerset

  • Flo

These hikes cover all weights and finishes, with standard differentials and upcharges still applying.
