| Quality never taken for granted. It is measured and improved. |
During the 1980s, American auto manufacturers observed what they thought was a dilemma. If they were to compete with Japanese manufacturers, they needed to increase the quality of their products. But it was thought that this meant that it would take much more time to produce quality cars than previously. Much to their astonishment, they found that if early in the planning, standards were set for higher quality, manufacturing and assembly of the components actually increased. That was the beginning of a new quality revolution in America. Schumann Printers, Inc. understands that optimizing the system is the primary step to quality improvement. By creating an integrated marketing, estimating and order writing program for our computer system, we have eliminated repetitious work and minimized errors. Our pre-press department uses an assembly line approach for Computer to Plate production. By frequent inspection at strategic intervals during preparation, we optimize the system, eliminating errors. By careful control of the printing process, assured counts, product location and movement, the bindery and mailing and fulfillment operations are very efficient. Most importantly, all employees receive continuing education and training. They understand that quality is everyones job. By using a simple method of statistical analysis, we continually improve the quality and quantity of printing plates produced in a shift. Since we have excellent quality already built into our Computer to Plate system, press register is assured. This eliminates waste paper and increases press efficiency. More -> |
