Printers and publishers have traditionally had something of an adversarial relationship. On the one side, the publisher looks to get the best quality at the lowest cost. On the other side, the printer has often been concerned with maximizing profits . . . right now. Never before, however, has the life of a publisher been so difficult. Markets are fragmenting, competition intensifying and the battle to produce quality products while earning a fair profit, seems more a challenge every day. After years of rapid expansion, ad revenues seem ever tougher to come by, markets seem saturated and advertisers are turning to TV and Internet promotions and direct mail. We continue to analyze these trends and others. At Schumann Printers, Inc., were convinced that for the sake of publishers and printers alike, a new more cooperative type of relationship needs to be established. To help build this new relationship, Schumann Printers, Inc. dedicates itself to being the ally of the publishers we work with in the publishers battle to increase sales and profits. This isnt a selfless act; we are acutely aware that the best way for a printer to grow is to have customers whose magazines and companies are a great success. We know that successful publishers will produce thicker issues and new titles year after year. Because we have a long-term perspective, we feel a common interest with those publishers we work with, and we dedicate ourselves to helping them grow their business, month after month. This attitude runs deep in the heritage of our company. My father, Jack Schumann, founded this company more than four decades ago, and by the early 1970s had established a record of commitment to publishers by inventing a unique niche in publishing services, as Schumann Printers, Inc. repositioned itself as a specialty printer for the short run, special-interest publication market. Today, my brothers and myself, along with all our associates, continue to expand this commitment to publishers by capably responding to all publishers printing needsbe they short or long run magazines, catalogs, or other forms of advertising material. But what we really do here at Schumann Printers, Inc., isnt captured in the details of our state-of-the-art equipment or the specifics of our intensive training programs for our companys associates. For what we really do here at Schumann Printers, Inc. is not just printing, but it is joining together with publishers to help them succeed so that we can grow together. Were based in the town of my birth, a terrific little place that goes by the name of Fall River, Wisconsin, a town filled with good people who do good work. You will be very impressed with the work we do, the organization weve built and the services we render. I really hope youll come up to visit us sometime. We enjoy getting to meet new friends and finding new publishers who join with us in the pursuit of profits through our printing partnership. Back -> |
